The Plasterer Level 2 Apprenticeship is ideal for individuals who want to begin a hands-on career in the construction industry. This programme prepares you to work on both new builds and refurbishment projects, applying plaster to walls and ceilings to create smooth or decorative finishes.

As an apprentice, you’ll be employed in a construction setting while receiving structured training at ÇàÇà²ÝÊÓƵ. The course typically lasts 24 months and equips you with the technical skills and knowledge to work safely and effectively as a plasterer in domestic, commercial, or heritage environments

You’ll learn how to prepare surfaces, mix and apply different types of plaster, and use a variety of tools and techniques to achieve high-quality finishes. The course covers both solid plastering and fibrous plastering, including the creation of decorative mouldings and features.

You’ll also gain knowledge of health and safety, sustainability, interpreting technical drawings, and working as part of a team. Training includes the use of access equipment, manual handling, and protecting finished work and surrounding areas

There are no formal qualifications needed to start the Plasterer Level 2 Apprenticeship—just a strong interest in construction and a willingness to learn. This programme is ideal for school leavers or individuals looking to retrain in a practical trade.

However, some employers may set their own entry requirements. If you have not yet achieved a GCSE Grade 2/E (or equivalent) in English and Maths, you will be required to complete Functional Skills Level 1 in these subjects as part of your apprenticeship. Don’t worry—ÇàÇà²ÝÊÓƵ will support you throughout your training.

You’ll be assessed throughout the apprenticeship through practical observations, written assignments, and a portfolio of evidence. Your college tutor and employer will help you track your progress and prepare for your final assessment.

At the end of the programme, you’ll complete an End Point Assessment (EPA), which includes:

A practical skills test
A professional discussion
A review of your portfolio
These assessments confirm your competence and readiness to work independently as a qualified plasterer

To begin the apprenticeship, you’ll need to secure employment with an organisation willing to support you as an apprentice. While it is your responsibility to find and apply for suitable roles, ÇàÇà²ÝÊÓƵ is here to help. We have a dedicated Job Shop located within the college, where you can meet with an Employer Engagement Advisor for tailored support and advice on how to apply for vacancies and prepare for interviews.

After completing this apprenticeship, you’ll be qualified to work as a Plasterer in a range of settings. You may choose to specialise in solid plastering, fibrous plastering, or external rendering, or progress to a supervisory role or further qualifications in construction.

This apprenticeship provides a strong foundation for a long-term career in the construction industry.
