The Paralegal Level 3 Apprenticeship is designed for individuals who want to begin a career in the legal profession by providing essential support to solicitors and legal teams. This programme prepares you to work in a variety of legal environments, including law firms, in-house legal departments, and public sector organisations.

As an apprentice, you’ll be employed in a legal setting while receiving structured training through ÇàÇà²ÝÊÓƵ and a specialist legal training provider. The course typically lasts 24 months and equips you with the knowledge and skills to carry out legal research, draft documents, manage case files, and support legal transactions

You’ll gain a solid understanding of the English legal system, legal research techniques, and the principles of client care. You’ll also learn how to draft legal documents, manage case files, and apply legal knowledge to real-world scenarios.

The course covers a wide range of legal areas such as contract law, litigation, conveyancing, family law, and probate. You’ll also develop professional behaviours including ethical conduct, attention to detail, and effective communication

There are no formal qualifications needed to start the Paralegal Level 3 Apprenticeship—just a strong interest in law and a commitment to developing your legal knowledge and skills. This programme is ideal for individuals who have completed A Levels or equivalent qualifications and are looking to enter the legal profession.

However, some employers may set their own entry requirements, such as GCSEs in English and Maths. If you have not yet achieved a GCSE Grade 4/C (or equivalent) in these subjects, you will be required to complete Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths as part of your apprenticeship. Don’t worry—ÇàÇà²ÝÊÓƵ will provide full support to help you achieve these essential qualifications alongside your training.

You’ll be assessed throughout the apprenticeship through written assignments, legal research tasks, and a portfolio of evidence. Your college tutor and employer will support your progress and help you prepare for the final assessment.

At the end of the programme, you’ll complete an End Point Assessment (EPA), which includes:

A knowledge test
A portfolio-based interview
A scenario-based assessment
These assessments are designed to confirm your competence and readiness to work independently as a qualified paralegal

To begin the apprenticeship, you’ll need to secure employment with an organisation willing to support you as an apprentice. While it is your responsibility to find and apply for suitable roles, ÇàÇà²ÝÊÓƵ is here to help. We have a dedicated Job Shop located within the college, where you can meet with an Employer Engagement Advisor for tailored support and advice on how to apply for vacancies and prepare for interviews.

After completing this apprenticeship, you’ll be qualified to work as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or Legal Administrator. You may also choose to progress to the Level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship, or pursue further qualifications such as the Chartered Legal Executive route.

This apprenticeship provides a strong foundation for a long-term career in the legal sector, with opportunities to specialise in areas such as family law, litigation, conveyancing, or corporate law.
