    The Professional Accounting or Tax Technician Level 4 Apprenticeship is designed for individuals who want to develop their career in finance, accounting, or taxation. This programme prepares you to work in roles such as Assistant Accountant, Tax Technician, or Finance Officer, supporting businesses with accurate financial reporting and compliance.

    As an apprentice, you’ll be employed in a relevant finance role while receiving structured training through ÇàÇà²ÝÊÓÆµ and a specialist training provider. The course typically lasts 18 to 24 months and combines technical learning with practical experience to help you apply your knowledge in real-world scenarios

    You’ll gain a strong understanding of financial reporting, management accounting, tax compliance, and internal controls. You’ll also develop skills in business communication, ethical standards, and the use of accounting software.

    The course includes core modules such as:

    Applied Management Accounting
    Drafting and Interpreting Financial Statements
    Internal Accounting Systems and Controls
    You’ll also complete optional units tailored to your role, and build a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your competence
  • Entry requirements

    There are no formal qualifications needed to start the Professional Accounting or Tax Technician Level 4 Apprenticeship—just a strong interest in finance and a commitment to developing your skills. This programme is ideal for individuals who have completed a Level 3 qualification, such as the AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting.

    However, some employers may set their own entry requirements. If you have not yet achieved a GCSE Grade 4/C (or equivalent) in English and Maths, you will be required to complete Functional Skills Level 2 in these subjects as part of your apprenticeship. Don’t worry—ÇàÇà²ÝÊÓÆµ will support you throughout your training.
  • How will I be assessed?

    You’ll be assessed throughout the apprenticeship through assignments, workplace tasks, and a portfolio of evidence. Your college tutor and employer will help you track your progress and prepare for your final assessment.

    At the end of the programme, you’ll complete an End Point Assessment (EPA), which includes:

    An online simulation-based assessment
    A portfolio submission
    A written statement or professional discussion reflecting on your learning and development

    If you’re interested in this apprenticeship, the first step is to register your interest with ÇàÇà²ÝÊÓÆµ. This will add you to our mailing list so we can keep you informed about any upcoming apprenticeship vacancies or employer opportunities in your chosen field.

    To begin the apprenticeship, you’ll need to secure employment with an organisation willing to support you as an apprentice. While it is your responsibility to find and apply for suitable roles, ÇàÇà²ÝÊÓÆµ is here to help. We have a dedicated Job Shop located within the college, where you can meet with an Employer Engagement Advisor for tailored support and advice on how to apply for vacancies and prepare for interviews.

  • Future opportunities

    After completing this apprenticeship, you’ll be qualified to work in a range of finance roles or progress to higher-level qualifications such as the Level 7 Accountancy or Taxation Professional Apprenticeship, or study towards chartered status with ACCA, CIMA, or ICAEW.

    You may also apply for full AAT membership (MAAT) if you meet the work experience requirements.
